Despite the difficulties associated with overcoming the coronavirus pandemic, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress delivered tons of matzah to the Jewish communities of the Euro-Asian region enabling Jews in India, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia and Uzbekistan to have matzah at their upcoming Passover seders.
“The world is experiencing a pandemic, and we all need to mobilize so that Jewish life in the Diaspora does not fade away,” said president of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, Dr. Michael Mirilashvili.

“The departure from the state anti-Semitism of Soviet times and a reduction of the level of violence motivated by anti-Semitic views do not mean that anti-Semitism as a cultural phenomenon has vanished in these countries,” said professor Ze’ev Khanin.

The exhibition is a joint project of the Russian embassy in Croatia, Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Croatia, the Alexander Pechersky Foundation, the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Zagreb, Shira Gallery and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.

The memorial was funded by the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress headed by Israeli-Georgian businessman and philanthropist Mikhail Mirilashvili, as well as Jewish Russian billionaire Viktor Vekselberg. The Jewish National Fund, the United United Israel Appeal, and the Russian Jewish Congress also supported the project.
